Revenge mission for United

Revenge mission for United

Dundee United will have revenge on their minds when taking on Motherwell at Tannadice this weekend.

Midfielder Danny Swanson could make a welcome return following more than three months absence after coming on as a late substitute at Celtic last week.

Meanwhile, ex-Blackburn Rovers defender Gavin Gunning has recovered from a back problem as the Tangerines line-up against a side who were already victorious at the same venue earlier in the season.

"Motherwell were fantastic against us at Tannadice earlier in the season, so we won't be underestimating them," manager Peter Houston told BBC Scotland. "Their form has dipped a wee bit, but with the quality they have in their squad that won't last because they are a very good side.

"They have goal threats from all over the park and are one of the toughest teams to play outside the Old Firm," he continued. "The last game we played down there was ruined by the wind, which made it impossible to play any sort of football, so I'm expecting a much better game for the fans this time round."

Motherwell are boosted with the news that midfielder Steve Jennings has overcome a hamstring injury. But defender Steven Saunders remains sidelined.
