Tangerines sign striker

Dundee United have snapped up Slovakian striker Milos Lacny on a year-long loan from Sparta Prague, subject to international clearance and with an option to buy outright.

The 23-year-old has eight Under-21 caps to his credit and previously underwent a trial with Celtic a couple of years ago. He had most recently been training with the Tannadice club with a view to signing.

Lacny originally joined Czech outfit Sparta from Ruzomberok in January 2010 on a three-year contract but was last year sent out on loan to Slovan Bratislava for six months.

"Milos is a quality young player," United manager Peter Houston told BBC Scotland. "His style is different to the strikers we already have at the club and I think he will quickly become a favourite with our fans.

"He showed a desire to come over here on trial and what I witnessed convinced me that he can play a big part in our squad and gives us greater attacking options," he added. "He will bring pace to our forward line and increases our goal threat. I am absolutely delighted to have secured his services for the next 12 months."
