Only wins now for United
Dundee United would now appear to be fighting only for fourth place in the table as they visit Rangers this evening.
Motherwell's narrow 1-0 victory at Hearts last night means the Tangerines must win each of their three remaining games to have any chance of a Champions League qualifying spot.
Defender Gavin Gunning is still out with a shoulder injury for the visitors, who were held to a 2-2 draw by Hearts at the weekend but have already left Ibrox with a victory this season in the Scottish Cup.
"We know it's going to be a tough fixture so we have to take what we can get out of the game," manager Peter Houston admitted to BBC Scotland. "We don't fear it, though. We'll go and have a go as we usually do.
"It was a good performance the last time there in the cup tie," he added. "If we can get anywhere near the heights we hit that time I'd be more than delighted. But Rangers are always dangerous when they've come off the back of a poor defeat from Celtic so we know to expect a reaction."
Striker Kyle Lafferty is suspended for Rangers, who went down to a convincing 3-0 defeat at Celtic over the weekend. Lee McCulloch and Andy Little are both struggling with knocks while Steven Davis, Sasa Papac and Steven Naismith remain sidelined.
