Tangerines deny departures

Dundee United are playing down moves for several of their top performers over the summer.

Enquiries were already rumoured to have been made for striker Johnny Russell, winger Gary Mackay-Steven and defender Gavin Gunning but the club state no actual offers have been received.

Meanwhile, manager Peter Houston is actively looking to add to a squad that exceeded all expectations by finishing fourth in the table last season.

"We're realistic of the current financial climate within football and if substantial offers for any of our players which exceed the valuations we place on our players were submitted, we would consider such bids," included a statement released by the club.

"The manager is currently engaged in attempting to enhance the squad for next season after another highly successful campaign and each of our contracted players are seen as integral parts of our future squad."
