Houston urges fans to buy tickets
Dundee United manager Peter Houston has called for supporters to purchase season tickets despite concerns over the Rangers 'newco' situation.
Houston revealed hopes of a new signing have been shelved because tickets sales are so slow due to Arabs fury over the prospect of the Ibrox club being readmitted into the SPL.
The Taysiders have since confirmed their decision to vote against the 'newco' at the crunch vote on 4th July. Ticket sales were only at around 1,700 and less than half the total achieved at the same time last year.
"I completely understand that United fans want to see sporting integrity upheld with the Rangers situation," Houston told the Daily Record. "I agree that there needs to be punishment.
"However, I feel there needs to be a fine balance struck. I'm selfish when it comes to Dundee United and it is my job to do what is best for this club," he added. "That's why I'm asking the fans to put their team above any concerns over the Rangers situation.
"Things have been put on hold because our season ticket sales are way down. So that has taken away the chance to bring in a player I think would have improved the squad."
