Tangerines call for support after delay

Dundee United are taking on Everton this evening after their delayed pre-season friendly had to be put back twenty-four hours due to a waterlogged pitch at Tannadice.

Everton boss David Moyes has already promised to field a strong side for the game with ex-Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic one of those set to feature.

Tangerines chairman Stephen Thompson was hoping the change in arrangements wouldn't seriously affect the number of supporters attending. The original meeting was only cancelled at midday yesterday.

"Everton are a top side in England with a whole host of star players," he told the Dundee Courier. "We look forward to welcoming them to Tannadice and Everton themselves are more than pleased to move the game as they are looking for a game of football as well. So I would appeal to all our fans to turn out in big numbers."

Kick-off for the match is 7.45pm with tickets on the gate priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.
