'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Houston talking silly money

Dundee United have no intention of losing star forwards Johnny Russell and Gary Mackay-Steven anytime soon.

Both were again influential during the 3-0 opening game victory against Hibernian at the weekend. Russell actually began the scoring as early as three minutes, while Mackay-Steven was involved in the second.

"They want to stay, they want to learn their trade here," manager Peter Houston told BBC Scotland. "If they pay the right money, they'll go, but they'll not get away for cheap.

"There'll be talk of Mackay-Steven, there'll be talk of Russell. There might be talk of Armstrong as well," he added. "The guys will not go unless there's silly money put on the table because these boys are playing as good as anything in Scotland."
