Defender grateful to prove his worth

Defender Barry Douglas is grateful to get his chance following the departure of Paul Dixon to Huddersfield Town over the summer.

The 22-year-old is relishing the opportunity to impress after being kept on the sidelines for most of last season.

"It was a long wait because I came in in my first season and played a few games, but obviously with Dicker's form I never kicked a ball the whole of last year," Douglas told the Dundee Courier. "So I'm excited and looking forward to my opportunity and hopefully I can grasp that.

"Dicker is a great player," he continued. "He set the standard and people are going to compare but I've got belief in my own ability and I think I'll do well as long as I get the opportunity"

Douglas joined the Tangerines from Queen's Park a couple of years ago and managed 28 appearances whilst scoring twice during his first campaign. But he found his chances limited to just thirteen games last term.
