'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Brave hearts required

Dundee United really need to get back amongst the goals as Hearts provide their latest opposition at Tannadice this weekend.

The Tangerines have failed to score in their last couple of games although four clean-sheets out of five has seen them still regularly picking up points.

Their cause hasn't really been helped by skipper Jon Daly once again proving to be a serious doubt with a knee injury. That added to the fleet-footed Gary Mackay-Steven still being consigned to the stands rather compromises their attacking options.

New signing Gregory Vignal also won't be considered yet after recently arriving at the club. He is still working on increasing his fitness levels following a lengthy spell out of the game.

"I'm not going to rush him. He might get a spot on the bench at best," manager Peter Houston told the Dundee Courier. "He certainly won't start the game. He needs a couple of games and didn't play against Ross County at St Andrews the other day because he needs a wee bit more sharpness.

"Every day he looks that bit better, so rather than play him and get a calf or hamstring injury, which could easily happen if you've not played for a while, I'm not going to rush Gregory."

Former United loan defender Andy Webster is rated very doubtful with back and hip problems for the visitors. Meanwhile, teenager Callum Paterson is back in training but may not yet be recalled.
