'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Terrors chase an instant response

Dundee United travel to Queen of the South in the Scottish Communities League Cup still no doubt smarting from their comprehensive SPL home defeat to Hearts at the weekend.

Manager Peter Houston could recall striker Jon Daly from the start as his side bid to end a blank sequence of three games without a goal. Daly made his comeback as a substitute during their 3-0 weekend defeat.

But the visitors are still without fellow forward Gary Mackay-Steven following recent knee surgery.

The Tangerines have though been boosted by defender Keith Watson and midfielder Stuart Armstrong both agreeing contract extensions at Tannadice.

"It's probably best to have a game so soon to bounce back after the disappointing game against Hearts and we are definitely looking to do that," Armstrong told BBC Scotland ahead of the tie.

Their Dumfries opponents currently lead the second division and were expected to welcome back forwards Daniel Orsi and Gavin Reilly into their side.

Meanwhile, experienced midfielder Derek Young should also earn a recall after being rested for the 3-0 weekend away victory at Brechin City.
