Victory at last for Houston

Victory at last for Houston

Dundee United boss Peter Houston reckoned he got the result if not the overall performance as the visitors came out on top 1-0 at St Mirren.

Striker Johnny Russell claimed the only goal courtesy of a second-half penalty. And that was sufficient to mark a first league win since mid-August for his side.

"I didn't think we got anywhere near the standards that we performed to last week," Houston told BBC Scotland. "But I'd rather take the three points and grind out a result.

"We've still got two games in the hand in the league and, if we win, it'll put us into third position, although the games are against Celtic and Motherwell - two very difficult fixtures," he added.
