Houston expects tough clash

Dundee United are in Scottish Communities League Cup quarter-final action against Hearts on Wednesday evening in a 7.15pm kick-off at Tannadice.

The tie should witness Czech playmaker Rudi Skacel coming up against his former club after joining the Taysiders last week.

An added boost sees highly-rated winger Gary Mackay-Steven nearing a return following knee surgery and even talk of him being involved at some stage.

"Hearts came up to Tannadice recently and beat us 3-0," United manager Peter Houston told BBC Scotland. "I think we were far too open against then and let them counter-attack.

"We didn't close down shots and we found ourselves 2-0 down at half-time," he continued. "Hopefully we've learned from that and we get closer, tighter and deny them shots at goal but we know it's going to be a tough, tough fixture."

Hearts are currently missing Mark Ridgers, Jamie Hamill and Dale Carrick.
