I thought I'd score - Dillon
Dundee United defender Sean Dillon was left reflecting on his penalty shoot-out miss against Hearts in their Scottish Communities League Cup quarter-final.
The 29-year-old Irishman struck wide of the mark as the visitors eventually went through 5-4 on spot-kicks following a 1-1 extra-time draw at Tannadice. Gary Mackay-Steven and John Rankin also failed to find the target for the hosts.
The Tangerines earlier appeared favourites to progress after their opponents had seen Darren Barr sent-off late in normal time.
"After they missed their first couple of penalties, I wasn't thinking it would come down to me," Dillon told the Dundee Courier. "I hadn't put my hand up to take one of the first five but ended up having to take one and was happy to do so.
"I was also confident of scoring but I made a mess of it and that's disappointing," he confessed. "We probably should have had the game won before that but I don't want to take anything away from Hearts."
