'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Houston frustrated by recurring theme

There was more frustration for manager Peter Houston as Dundee United fell to a 2-1 home defeat against Motherwell.

The Tangerines maintained their recent worrying habit of giving opponents a clear start by conceding twice in the opening ten minutes.

First Michael Higdon broke their defences and then Chris Humphrey crashed a quality second just a few minutes later. Skipper Jon Daly proceeded to offer them some hope but it wasn't enough.

"That's five games on the trot we've gone behind," Houston told BBC Scotland. "Now it's beyond a joke. I don't know if it's a mental thing. I'm asking them questions and I'm not getting many answers.

"It shouldn't be like that and for the last four of five games it's been like that," he added. "It would be hard for me to turn round and say they weren't working hard enough or they weren't chasing. They're doing that, but unfortunately we're giving ourselves mountains to climb."
