Rangers fans to boycott Tannadice

Rangers fans to boycott Tannadice

Rangers won't be taking up their allocation of tickets for their Scottish Cup fifth round tie at Dundee United at the beginning of February.

That follows the Rangers Supporters' Assembly urging their fans not to attend the game in protest at United's previous opposition to Rangers' application to join the SPL.

"Everyone at this club is dismayed at the actions of certain SPL clubs, which were actively engaged in trying to harm Rangers," Charles Green told BBC Scotland. "Feelings remain very raw and it should be no surprise that we feel this way. Our only regret is that this turn of events will not assist Ally McCoist and the team in a very difficult fixture.

"Rangers Football Club will not be taking its allocation of tickets for the forthcoming Scottish Cup match against Dundee United at Tannadice," he confirmed. "This is a unanimous decision by the board, senior management and staff at Ibrox."

The Tannadice game is the first played away by Rangers against top-flight opposition since ten of its clubs voted against their acceptance over the summer. Kilmarnock abstained from the vote.
