Only on my terms - Thompson

Dundee United chairman Stephen Thompson says manager Peter Houston could still remain at the club but only if he is prepared to accept reduced terms.

Houston is out of contract in the summer and currently holding talks with Championship side Blackpool over their managerial vacancy after already being given permission by the Tannadice club.

That follows contract negotiations with his present employers stalling as the Taysiders seek to impose a reduction in his existing wage levels: "Only if he accepts my terms," warned the United chairman.

Thompson admitted he would welcome back former Scotland boss Craig Levein to the club should Houston leave but conceded that particular scenario was highly unlikely.

"I'd take him back in a minute, of course. But with his current contract situation with the SFA that will never happen," he continued to BBC Scotland. "I've been chairman for four-and-a-half years with 10 years' board experience. I know exactly what kind of manager I want if Peter goes."

Meanwhile, the Tangerines supremo has dismissed speculation regarding a couple of separate parties showing interest in buying the club, confirming that as yet there had been no approaches made.
