Tangerines to unveil new manager

Dundee United are expected to announce Jackie McNamara as their new manager on Wednesday in succession to Peter Houston.

The Tangerines have already agreed compensation with his current club, Partick Thistle, who are in second place in the Scottish First Division table at present.

"Following an approach from Dundee United, the Board of Directors of Partick Thistle Football Club have reluctantly granted permission for Jackie McNamara and Simon Donnelly to speak to them about their vacant managerial position," read a statement issued by Thistle.

McNamara, 39, originally joined the Jags in April 2011 on a one-year rolling deal while being assisted by former Celtic team-mate Simon Donnelly.

His first game in charge will be the visit of Rangers in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup on Saturday.
