New boss starts against Rangers

New boss starts against Rangers

Dundee United expect to have a full-strength squad available to tackle Rangers in the Scottish Cup fifth round this weekend.

Former Czech Republic international Rudi Skacel definitely won't be involved after his short-term deal wasn't extended as new manager Jackie McNamara takes charge for the first time.

"We just have to get to work quickly," McNamara told BBC Scotland. "These were the type of games I relished as a player and it will be the same on Saturday.

"I could stand here for an hour and tell you all the things I didn't expect to have to deal with as a manager," he continued. "But I think the biggest lesson I have learned is the players are so important. You have to look after the players."

Ex-United striker Francisco Sandaza is doubtful for the visitors due to hamstring trouble while Lee McCulloch (ankle) and Lewis Macleod (knee) are already ruled out.
