Boss delighted to get through

Dundee United boss Jackie McNamara was pleased with the workmanlike performance of his side following their 2-1 victory at rivals Dundee in their Scottish Cup quarter-final.

Defender Brian McLean and forward Gary Mackay-Steven were both on target during the first-half and either side of a Jim McAllister reply.

"I don't think it was a pretty game but when we did pass the ball we caused them problems," McNamara told BBC Scotland "We probably scored the second goal, the winner, against the run of play.

"We're just delighted to be in the next round. It's massive, the financial side of it and just the feel-good factor with fans, they're sent away happy," he added. "We'll hopefully get a good draw and try and get in the final."

The draw for the semi-final of the competition is on Monday and also includes Celtic, Falkirk and either Kilmarnock or Hibernian.
