There was no intent - Rankin
Dundee United midfielder John Rankin expects his weekend red card at St Mirren to be overturned on appeal.
The 29-year-old was dismissed just before the end of the 0-0 draw following a challenge on Buddies' John McGinn.
But Rankin was quick to insist there was no intent in the tackle as the visitors extended their unbeaten run to five games in Paisley.
"When you look at it again, I don't think it's so bad," Rankin told BBC Scotland. "There's no malice in the challenge whatsoever and hopefully we'll overcome the appeal later in the week.
"I've read it, but none of my two feet are off the ground," he added. "I've tried to keep both of them on the ground and my studs aren't showing."
