Striker ready to roar

New signing Rory Boulding is hoping to do the business for Dundee United following his arrival until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old was handed a short-term deal last week after being released by Kilmarnock at the beginning of the year.

The Tangerines are currently without their 20-goal leading goalscorer Johnny Russell due to a broken leg suffered in the recent clash with Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Russell was expected to be out for around six weeks and Boulding stepped in as his replacement for the weekend draw at St Mirren. He believes he can repeat his form at previous club Livingston, where he scored twelve goals in 29 appearances, despite being given few opportunities while on a three-year deal with Kilmarnock.

"I'm definitely keen to show what I can do at this level," Boulding told BBC Scotland. "At Livingston I got given the chance. I scored two in my first game and just didn't look back - after six games I had 10 goals and that was that.

"I only started one game [at Kilmarnock] and played a few minutes in three other games," he continued. "So I definitely didn't get a chance. There was no explanation really and I didn't ask for one. It just got to the point where I was getting no opportunity at all and it was clear I wasn't going to be given it, so I asked to leave and they agreed."
