McNamara unhappy at inconsistency
Dundee United manager Jackie McNamara was unhappy with some of the decisions of referee Iain Brines during their derby draw with St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.
Teenager Ryan Gauld scored on his full debut for the visitors but Liam Craig finally equalised with an injury-time header after United midfielder Stuart Armstrong had earlier been sent-off.
"I thought there was a lot of inconsistency with decisions, some were quite baffling," McNamara told BBC Scotland. "Stuart's first booking was a similar one we had with [a challenge on Michael] Gardyne and it went unpunished. Even at the end, we're breaking away and, rather than play they advantage, he calls it back and books him [Murray Davidson]. There's no advantage for us."
The result now leaves the visitors relying on other clubs in their hopes for a top-half finish while their opponents confirmed their own place.
"I think it was a fair result," McNamara admitted. "I'm disappointed to lose it [the goal] in the way we did at the end, disappointed with a lot of things. I thought we could've held on."
