Reunion the draw for newcomer

Reunion the draw for newcomer

Dundee United's recent signing Paul Paton rejected Europa League football with Motherwell in order to complete his move to Tannadice.

The 26-year-old arrived along with team-mate Chris Erskine from Partick Thistle following them both originally signing pre-contracts with the Tangerines - to link the pair up again with former Jags chief Jackie McNamara.

"United was always a big lure but having the gaffer here made it extra special," Paton admitted to stv.tv. "I really enjoyed playing under him at Thistle and I really feel like I've developed as a player and a person with his help.

"That's why I chose to come here. Stuart McCall spoke to me about going to Motherwell and they have obviously got European football to look forward to," he added. "But the lure was just too big to come here and play for the gaffer."
