Newcomer grateful to boss
New signing Paul Paton has paid tribute to Dundee United manager Jackie McNamara for seriously boosting his career prospects.
Paton and his fellow Partick Thistle team-mate Chris Erskine recently agreed on a move to Tannadice and a reunion with their former Jags boss McNamara.
And the 26-year-old has since revealed just how indebted he remains to his Firhill Stadium mentor for regularly offering him renewed self-belief in his own game.
"This is a massive challenge for me," Paton admitted to the Dundee Courier. "I am not going to lie. I am untried and untested at SPL level. However, I wouldn't be here if I didn't think I could do a job for United.
"The manager had been telling me for a season and a half during our time at Thistle that I was an SPL-standard player in the First Division," he added. "I have so much to thank the gaffer for. He has given me confidence."
