Goodwillie returns to United

Dundee United have re-signed former striker David Goodwillie on loan from Blackburn Rovers.

The 24-year-old originally left the Tangerines in a 2.8m deal in August 2011 but has since found restricted opportunities at Ewood Park, with 34 appearances producing five goals.

He will now remain at Tannadice until 13th January and is certainly a welcome addition for United boss Jackie McNamara having already lost both Jon Daly and Johnny Russell this summer.

"We are not pushing David out of the door," manager Gary Bowyer assured Rovers' official website. "He will have family and friends around him and we expect him to find his feet very quickly.

"We look forward to welcoming him back in January once he has got some games - and hopefully some goals - under his belt," he added.
