Tangerines to make history

Dundee United and Partick Thistle are to make history by contesting the opening game of the Scottish Professional Football League.

It follows the recent merging of the Scottish Premier League and the Scottish Football League, in which the current structure remains in force alongside a revised financial distribution policy.

The Firhill Park clash against the promoted hosts has been brought forward to Friday 2nd August (kick-off 7.45pm) to enable live TV coverage.

In total ten games in August have been rescheduled with more to possibly follow at the end of the month depending on European results.
