Trialist keen to impress

Trialist keen to impress

Dundee United trialist Nadir Ciftci is hoping to make a name for himself at Tannadice.

The 21-year-old was disappointed with the opening 4-1 defeat to Union Berlin at the weekend - where he featured for half of the game.

However, the Dutch-born striker should get another chance to impress when United meet another German second division side, Energie Cottbus, on Friday.

"The manager said 'well done' to me after the game so that was good for me," Ciftci told the Dundee Courier. "I have been doing my best and I hope I can sign here. You do what you have to do and if you're good enough then something will happen.

"The Berlin result was disappointing but I don't think it was too bad because they had played about six games already and we had only been training for less than a week," he continued. "This team has very good players and you can see when the fitness comes things will be very good."
