Thompson wants top six

Thompson wants top six

Dundee Utd chairman has told manager Gordon Chilsolm he expects him to lift Dundee Utd up to the SPL top six.

United currently lie in 9th place, four points behind Inverness CT who fill the 6th position at the moment.

Thompson was speaking as he picked up an OBE from the Queen for his achievements in retailing.

He said the Queen asked him how Dundee Utd were doing and he told he wants his club to make the top six.

'I don't need to make any comment about what I said, but she did remark that she understood football was full of ups and downs. We are ninth in the league at the moment and must improve that.'

'A top-six finish is vital for this club in terms of cash flow and from an image point of view. Anything less than that is unacceptable.'
