'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Dundee Utd told to copy Well

Arabs boss Craig Brewster has promised to do everything possible to make his team climb off the bottom of the SPL.

Motherwell were the basement club but two wins in a row, coupled with Dundee United's 4-1 reverse at Tannadice on Saturday (Oct 14), meant the two sides exchanged places, albeit on goal difference.

Now Brewster has called on his players to follow Well's example and start putting more points on the board.

He told the Dundee Evening Telegraph: 'Before Saturday, it was Motherwell who were suffering what we are now, but they responded by finding their form and getting themselves off the bottom. That`s shown they have character and now it is up to us to do the same.'

However, Brewster does not living in a fantasy world and he is aware that his league record of two wins in 26 games since he took the reins in January provides easy pickings for the media.

He said: 'I know how this game works. The media have a job to do, just as I have, and if things are not going well at a club it will be highlighted, it`s as simple as that.'

Lee Wilkie is getting closer to match-fitness and could feature against Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Saturday (Oct 21) in what would be his third attempted comeback from injury, although he may play more reserve matches to ensure his knee problems are behind him.
