Dundee United boss Craig Brewster has said places are up for grabs when his side faces Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Saturday (Oct 21).
The Arabs are currently bottom of the SPL, with just eight points from 10 matches. Motherwell, who were the bottom team, moved to 10th at the weekend when they beat Dunfermline, who are now in 11th and only above United on goal difference.
Brewster used this afternoon's (Tues, Oct 17) reserve fixture against Hearts to take a look at some defenders who could be drafted into the side - including new-signing Lee Wilkie (pictured above), who is continuing his comeback from injury.
Brewster told the Dundee Evening Telegraph: 'With the defence leaking goals in the last few weeks, we obviously need to tighten up in that area, so I am looking for people to show me they are ready. If Wilkie, (Lee) Mair and (Garry) Kenneth have all come through OK, it does give me options at the back and that would be a bonus.'
Aberdeen are also struggling, having lost their last three games, and the encounter will provide both teams with a chance to kick-start their season.
