'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Hat-trick of awards for United

Dundee United midfielder Ryan Gauld is the latest to be honoured after been named as Scottish Professional Football League young player of the month for November.

Boss Jackie McNamara and left-back Andrew Robertson had already respectively taken the manager and player of the month awards.

Seventeen-year-old Gauld netted twice during the recent 4-0 defeat of Motherwell and then created all four goals in the 4-1 win over Partick Thistle.

"It is great recognition for the club, the way we've being playing the last couple of months," he told BBC Scotland. "It just shows how well we've been doing."

Highly-rated prospect Gauld yesterday helped United into third place in the table with another free-flowing 4-1 triumph against bottom club Hearts.

"That's the aim of football - to excite people - and I think this season we've got the ball down a lot and we've passed it about well and obviously that's what everyone wants to see," he added. "That's the way football should be played, so we're very happy with what we've done this season so far."
