'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Let's stick together - GMS

Winger Gary Mackay-Steven hopes Dundee United's current crop of talented youngsters remain together long enough to create something really special at Tannadice.

The Tangerines scored four goals or more for the fourth successive home game at the weekend as Hearts went the same way as Motherwell, Partick Thistle and Kilmarnock. It's the first time that particular feat has been achieved in over seventy years.

The likes of leading prospects Ryan Gauld, John Souttar, Andrew Robertson and Stuart Armstrong not unnaturally continue to draw plenty of acclaim for a club now sitting third in the Scottish Premiership table.

"These are exciting times for us. The manager has confidence in the young boys and if you are good enough then you are old enough," Mackay-Steven told the Dundee Courier. "The young lads are making great leaps in the first team. It's great for them and they all have bright futures.

"However, from a selfish point of view I hope everyone stays in January, definitely, because I feel we can achieve something here," he added. "We are still in the Scottish Cup and there is everything to play for in the league so hopefully we can stick together."
