'If It's Football, It's Vital'

No distractions at Tannadice

Manager Jackie McNamara insists his Dundee United players remain totally unaffected by recent transfer speculation.

Italian giants Roma, who are currently challenging for the leadership of Serie 'A', are the latest club sending representation across to witness the Tangerines' weekend victory against Hearts.

Teenage midfielder Ryan Gauld was believed to be their chief point of interest, but the likes of John Souttar, Stuart Armstrong and Andrew Robertson continue to attract plenty of admirers.

"It just becomes normal for the players," McNamara told the Dundee Courier. "You put it to one side and concentrate on what is happening on the pitch It shouldn't affect them and, to be honest, you can see that in their performances that it hasn't."

Meanwhile, McNamara is still waiting on a couple of sidelined players with defender Gavin Gunning [knee] and striker Nadir Ciftci [hamstring] currently troubled by knocks.

"Gavin had a scan on his knee and we don't think it is as bad as first feared so that is good news," he added. "As for Nadir, we are just waiting to see how he responds to treatment."
