'If It's Football, It's Vital'

No surprise to manager

Dundee United manager Jackie McNamara was hardly surprised by Andrew Robertson's sudden elevation into the senior Scotland squad.

The nineteen-year full-back has been included for the friendly in Poland early next month despite him currently experiencing his debut season in the top-flight following his summer arrival from Queen's Park.

"This is brilliant news for him and for the club," McNamara told the Dundee Courier. "Andy is still a teenager but he has already been through a lot in his career and deserves to be where he is now.

"It is great credit to him and his family that he has gone from being told by Celtic that they didn't want him, on to amateur football with Queen's Park, signed for us and now he is in Scotland squad," he added. "That speaks volumes for the progress he has continued to make. I would challenge anyone who has watched us play this season to be surprised by this."
