Boss signs new deal

Manager Jackie McNamara has extended his contract at Dundee United by a further year until 2017.

The 40-year-old moved to Tannadice from Partick Thistle last year and immediately led his new club to a top-six finish in the table and the Scottish Cup semi-finals.

This time around the Tangerines are going even better and currently lie fourth ahead of a Scottish Cup quarter-final meeting with Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

"I am enjoying the job more than ever," McNamara told United's official website. "My relationship with the Board of Directors and the Chairman is the strongest I have experienced in football and working with the quality players available to me at Dundee United makes the job enjoyable.

"I am proud to be Dundee United's manager and I see great potential at the club," he added. "We have made a lot of progress in the first year here but can achieve a lot more and my desire to take Dundee United to a higher level is my motivation each day."
