Goodwillie extends contract

Dundee United received a boost this week when promising youngster David Goodwillie agreed to sign an extension to his contract.

The new contract commits the young striker to Tannadice until the end of the 2009/2010 season.

Goodwillie might only be seventeen years old but he has already showed a lot of potential and looks like he could soon hold down a regular starting spot in the Dundee United starting line-up.

United chairman Eddie Thompson said: 'David is an exciting young player who appears able to score goals at every level. At 17 he is already knocking loudly on the door of the first team. He has the potential to become a real fans' favourite and star of the future. This is why I am delighted to secure his services on a longer term deal.'

One man who wished his future was as secure is boss Craig Brewster. With United rooted to the bottom of the SPL, Brewster's job is hanging by a thread. Defeat against Falkirk will almost certainly end his spell as United manager.

It looks like Brewster will live to regret the day he made the decision to leave Inverness Caley, where he was doing so well.
