Well below our best - McNamara

Jackie McNamara conceded his Dundee United side were not at their best despite a 2-1 victory against Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Tannadice.

Goals from the two young Ryans, Gauld and Dow, proved enough to secure a third straight win, although Caley's teenage substitute Liam Polworth grabbed a late consolation.

"There wasn't a lot of quality," McNamara admitted to BBC Scotland. "We can play a lot better. That's a couple of games we've not played well and won.

"We upped the tempo at times, but I don't think we had a lot of fluency in the game at the right moments," he added. "We were a bit nervy when the lad scored that goal to get them back into it. That gave them a real lift at that time because I thought we were comfortable without playing well."

The Tangerines visit second-placed Aberdeen this coming weekend before then hosting confirmed champions Celtic.
