Tangerines tackle Dons

Tangerines tackle Dons

Dundee United host second-placed Aberdeen at Tannadice later this evening in their final home game of the season.

The Tangerines have concerns in midfield with first-choices Paul Paton and John Rankin both carrying knocks.

Meanwhile, Stewart Armstrong missed the weekend draw at Inverness Caledonian Thistle due to hamstring trouble. Winger Gary Mackay-Steven (chest infection) also failed to reappear after the break.

"It's our last home game of the season and it's one to look forward to," manager Jackie McNamara told BBC Scotland. "We were a bit flat in the first half on Saturday but we picked it up in the second half and caused the problems.

"If we play to a tempo and at a pace, we are dangerous," he continued. "Third place is a big ask. It's out of our hands and realistically our best chance of Europe is to win the Scottish Cup."

Dons striker Adam Rooney is sidelined by an ankle injury and defender Joe Shaughnessy remains a doubt. Both Nicky Low and Andrew Considine were already ruled out.
