Tension kicking in

Tension kicking in

Dundee United chairman Stephen Thompson is "excited but nervous" ahead of their weekend Scottish Cup final meeting with St Johnstone at Celtic Park.

The Tangerines were expected to be backed by their largest-ever following of supporters with more than 28,000 Arabs set to travel.

"It is a huge occasion, the Scottish Cup final, nearly a full house - probably by the time we get there, we'll have sold over 28,000 tickets - the biggest United support ever at any game, which is fantastic," Thompson told BBC Scotland. "The club means everything to me. I fight for the cause, for the club, and three o'clock on Saturday it's just about being a fan really."

United finished a place above the Saints in the Scottish Premiership table this season, but the Perth side won three of their four meetings.
