United win race for youngster

Dundee United are understood to have seen-off the challenge of fierce local rivals Dundee for Queen's Park's young midfielder Blair Spittal.

Both clubs agreed personal terms with the eighteen-year-old but the rapid emergence of former team-mate Andrew Robertson at Tannadice was said to be the deciding factor.

Spittal would become the Tangerines' second signing of the summer following the arrival of ex-Rangers midfielder Charlie Telfer earlier this week.

However, this latest deal may not be concluded until next week as manager Jackie McNamara is currently away on holiday.
