Duo on trial

Dundee United trialist Marley Berkvens is to be joined by another potential new signing for the start of pre-season training.

The unnamed player will link up with Dutch midfielder Berkvens at St Andrews after the pair were recommended to the club by Pierre van Hooijdonk.

"Pierre has said to me he sees something in Berkvens, so I am just finalising the details for him and the other lad to head over next week," manager Jackie McNamara told the Dundee Courier. "The second player isn't Dutch but right now I don't want to give out details about him.

"We will see how they look in training and if they show up well we will think about taking them over to Ireland with us next month so that we can have a look at them in a game situation."
