United drop striker interest

United drop striker interest

Dundee United have shelved their interest in teenage Celtic striker Denny Johnstone.

The Tangerines were concerned about the outcome of any transfer tribunal and therefore won't be taking it any further.

Nineteen-year-old Johnstone has already been capped by Scotland at under-16, 17 and 19 levels and was being seriously considered for United's first-team squad.

But it was anticipated that any deal would have gone to tribunal in order to settle the transfer fee - something the Taysiders weren't prepared to do.
