Offer too good to refuse

Offer too good to refuse

Dundee United manager Jackie McNamara admits that Sporting Lisbon's offer for midfielder Ryan Gauld was "too good to turn down".

While nothing has yet been finalised, the bid for the teenage prospect stands at just over £2m rising to around £3m with add-ons.

"We have accepted a bid for Ryan and we have given him permission to speak to a club," McNamara told the Dundee Courier. "But there are still lots of issues on both sides that have to be solved.

"From a personal and maybe selfish point of view you do want to keep a hold of these players but there comes a time when it`s just too good to turn down - not just financially but for the player himself too."

Gauld netted eight goals in 38 appearances last season and is under contract with the club until 2017.
