Defender carried off in romp

Young defender John Souttar was carried off in Dundee United's 6-0 romp against FC Winterswijk - their opening friendly at their Dutch training camp

The seventeen-year-old was left clutching his ankle from a challenge as he charged forward from the back. Manager Jackie McNamara remains hopeful the problem isn't too serious - but possible ligament damage must be a concern.

Aidan Connolly scored twice on the way to a comfortable win for the Tangerines. Brian Graham, Stuart Armstrong and Nadir Ciftci were also on the mark alongside an Efe Redeker own-goal.

Skipper-for-the-day Graham also struck a low drive against an upright as his confident side scored twice before the break in sweltering conditions.

United next have forthcoming meetings with FC Utrecht on Sunday and NAC Breda [Tuesday].
