Dons trip for United

Dundee United start their campaign with a visit to Aberdeen on Sunday afternoon (kick-off 3.00pm).

The visitors have issues in defence with Sean Dillon, John Souttar and Mark Wilson all unavailable

"It's a tough one - no doubt about it," manager Jackie McNamara admitted to BBC Scotland. "Aberdeen are a strong side who proved themselves last season by winning the League Cup.

"So all credit to them and they will be looking to build on those achievements. It's never an easy game up there," he added. "But we want to look on it from the positive viewpoint that it's a game we should be really looking forward to."

Aberdeen are without suspended pair Jonny Hayes and Russell Anderson but defender Clark Robertson.returns from knee surgery.
