Tangerines look to build

Dundee United hope to build on their excellent opening victory at Aberdeen when hosting Motherwell this evening.

Goalscorer Gary Mackay-Steven requires a fitness test having suffered an ankle injury during the 3-0 success at Aberdeen.

Meanwhile, defensive trio Sean Dillon, Mark Wilson and John Souttar remain sidelined for hosts who currently top the table.

"It's about trying to carry on the good work which we did against Aberdeen," manager Jackie McNamara told BBC Scotland. "I think the players should have confidence going into this match and rightly so. They did a lot of things right at Pittodrie and that is never an easy place to go for any team.

"So it would be great if we could make a really positive start to the season," he added. "That's everyone's aim but we know it will be a difficult game against a very strong Motherwell side."

Motherwell have a doubt over Iain Vigurs while Adam Cummins, Steven Hammell, Simon Ramsden, Paul Lawson and Craig Moore are all unavailable.
