McNamara explains exit

McNamara explains exit

Dundee United boss Jackie McNamara conceded outgoing striker Brian Graham had become "frustrated" at Tannadice.

The 26-year-old has joined rivals St Johnstone on a season-long loan having managed seven goals since arriving from Raith Rovers last summer. He had though been restricted to just a solitary substitute appearance this time around.

Summer recruit Mario Bilate and chief marksman Nadir Ciftci are currently blocking his progress, while promising youngster Jordan Moore also awaits his chance.

"Brian has been a bit limited in terms of appearances this season as well as last year and he is a bit frustrated about that," McNamara told the Dundee Courier. "But I see the two other strikers ahead of him. At this stage of Brian's career, he wants to try to get regular football which I couldn't guarantee him. I don't want to keep anyone here who is unhappy."

Meanwhile, McNamara is still trying to find winger Michael Gardyne another club following on from fellow forward Kudus Oyenuga's recent loan move to Cowdenbeath.

"We are still trying to get Michael out," he added. "We want him to go and play football rather than sitting frustrated and not getting a look-in. We don't want to keep anybody here who is unhappy or is not going to get an opportunity."
