Winger expects to leave

Winger expects to leave

Gary Mackay-Steven admits he is almost certain to leave Dundee United.

The 23-year-old winger is currently in the final year of his contract and has already stalled on renewing it.

Mackay-Steven has made over a century of appearances since arriving from Airdrie in the summer of 2011, but concedes this season will probably be his last with the club.

"Yes — I think that's what will happen," he told the Dundee Courier. "Right now I don't want to think about that. I should just concentrate on my football.

"I think every player would ultimately want to go to England and go to as high a level as you can go," Mackay-Steven continued. "There are a lot of big clubs in England — I'd like to go there but whether that is now or in the future then I'm not sure. There's a lot of speculation and that's the same for every window."
