East Fife boss Dave Baikie has admitted talking to Dundee United defender Lee Wilkie but doesn't think a short-term loan-move would be worthwhile.
Since taking over at Tannadice, Arabs boss Craig Brewster has made it clear that he wants to sent Wilkie out on loan in an attempt to get him ready for SPL action, as the Scotland international attempts to make his third comeback from cruciate ligament problems.
East Fife were mentioned as a possible destination for the 26-year-old but, in a Fife Today report, Baikie said that such a move could prove to be a distraction for the club.
He said: 'Dundee United manager Craig Levein suggested Lee should go on loan for a month and Lee had a word with Neil Jablonski about coming to East Fife. I spoke to him but explained it would be difficult to come for just three or four games.
'Such a deal would only benefit Lee and Dundee United. It would be counterproductive and I don't want to disrupt our squad. It would be different if it was for three months.'
