Dundee United have been drawn to play against St Mirren in the 3rd round of the Scottish Cup next month.
Former manager Alex Smith did Craig Levein a slight favour drawing them out of the 'hat` first, giving them a home tie against their SPL rivals.
However, there are 2 other all SPL affairs, with Dunfermline at home to a struggling Rangers side and Hibernian facing a difficult trip to Pittodrie, to take on Aberdeen team which has just won their 5th consecutive home victory with a 2-1 win over Falkirk.
There will also be a Lanarakshire derby with Airdire United welcoming local rivals Motherwell and holders Hearts face a trip to Stranrear.
Although, Alex Smith almost made a farce of proceedings after he managed to drop ball 29 back into the pot - meaning that Ross County were drawn out twice, but the SFA have contingency plans for this kind of thing and the 2nd time it was drawn they had the common sense to dismissed it.
Otherwise, Ross County could have had to play both Partick Thistle and Hibernian at home on the same day, and that would be a very difficult afternoon - specially given the current form of both sides.
The ties will take place on the weekend of the 6th/7th of January, but with local rivals Dundee also at home, its likely the United game will be moved to the Sunday because Dundee were drawn from the pot first.
Dundee United had a home match in the same stages of the competition last season, but after being 2-0 up after 30minutes, with 2 goals from David Fernandez in the 26th and 29th minutes.
But an incredible comeback from Aberdeen put United out of the cup 3-2, with former United striker Stevie Crawford coming back to haunt Eddie Thomson - scoring twice in the 64th and 69th minutes - before Barry Nicholson capped the comeback of the competition with a 79th minute winner for the Dons.
